Legends and Acronyms

ATZ - An aerodrome traffic zone (ATZ) is an airspace of defined dimensions established around an aerodrome for the protection of aerodrome traffic.

R - A restricted area (R) is an airspace of defined dimensions above the land areas or territorial waters of a State, within which the flight of aircraft is restricted in accordance with specific conditions.

D – A danger area (D) is an airspace of defined dimensions within which activities dangerous to the flight of aircraft may exist at specified times.

TRA – Temporary Reserved Area (TRA) is an airspace temporarily reserved and allocated for the exclusive use of specific user during a determined period of time.

FIR – Flight Information Region (FIR) is an airspace of defined dimensions within which flight information service and alerting service are provided.

CTR – A control zone (CTR) is a block of Controlled Airspace extending from the surface of the earth to a specified upper limit.

ARP – Aerodrome Reference Point (ARP) is the geographical location of the aerodrome.

TSA – Temporary Segregated Area (TSA) is an airspace temporarily reserved and allocated for the exclusive use of a specific user during a determined period of time.

RMZ – Radio Mandatory Zone (RMZ) means airspace of defined dimensions wherein the carriage and operation of radio equipment is mandatory.

FIZ – Flight Information Zone (FIZ) means an airspace of defined dimension within which aerodrome flight information service and alerting service for aerodrome traffic are provided.

TMA – Terminal Control Area (TMA) is a Control Area normally established at the confluence of Air Traffic Service Routes in the vicinity of one or more major aerodromes.

CTA – Control Area (CTA) is a Controlled Airspace extending upwards from a specified limit above the earth.
